WEEK 5

Hey Family!! How are you?

This week was super awesome!!!!

Mon: We taught the Nerin Family. They are less active and Bro. Nerin was like 45 mins late so the lesson was super-fast! But that’s ok. He is a little bit not all there. We also taught Sis. Babra about the Atonement. She lost her 30-year-old disabled son a few weeks ago and is really sad. We are trying to help her to understand that the Atonement of Christ will make him whole and even though there is separation that there is nothing to be afraid about.

Tues: We had our first District meeting. Elder Peterson and Elder Cooper are the only other Elders in our district. Things get a little bit busy with the small amount of people. Elder Cooper and I were in the MTC together.  We are good friends. There were 37 of us in the MTC and 7 of us went to the Trinidad mission. All the Elders are in Guyana right now. We also taught a slam dunk lesson to Sis. Vivian (the most converted new member). Then we taught Sheena and Marsha about obedience to the prophets. They Are doing good. They are our only progressing investigators and they are looking like they are going to be baptized on the 13 of August. We also taught Sis. Synthia about the BOM she seemed more motivated to read which is really good! Tuesday was super-hot and humid!!

Weds: We Traveled to Blackbush to teach the Bastios it cost $1600 G to get there by car so we can’t visit them very often. Then we taught Andrea about the BOM. She is almost re-activated she just needs to come to church more. Then we got a referral to go and find the only Christian people in a place we call "Hindu-ville" We hunted and hunted, but could never find them.

Thurs: First we taught Tayna about the BOM. Then We taught Sheena and Marsha about the 10 Commandments. They had no major concerns with the Commandments. After that we taught the Indardats. They are a family of 10 so as imagined, the lesson was all over the place, from tomatoes being thrown (2-year-old Isaiah) to Everyone over the age of 18 leaving so we had to leave too. It was totally crazy!

Fri: One-month! It was also Zone conference. It was mostly instructional. It was really good to see the old District Alma back together! (All of the missionaries in Guyana where there. About 40) Later that night (We got back at 7:30PM) We taught Sis. Barbra. It was pretty good. I was hoping for a slam dunk but it was more of a bad layup.

Sat: We had an Interview with Pres. Egbert. I think it was pretty good. Later that day we taught a Rastafarian and we dropped him like a sack of rocks. It was a little bit of a waste of time. Then we taught Tayna and her sister again and about the BOM. After that we taught Sheena and Marsha about Eternal Families and Temples.

Sun: We went to the Church an hour early to meet investigators. We only had 2 come. Sis. Sati and Sis. Angele. We were sad that our Progressing investigators Sheena and Marsha didn't come. That’s ok, it rained so hard and they have little babies so it was probably good that they didn’t come. Then we worked with the branch counsel and then we did the finances and then we cleaned up the Church. We were there for almost 7 hours. Then we were able to teach Rena after all of our studies and stuff.

This week was so amazing! Elder Cook is a total Goofball just like me and we are great friends! I love you all so much! Thanks for all of the prayers.

Guyana, South America

Here is a map of where Elder Andrus is serving. He is near New Amsterdam!
"Guyana is defined by its dense rain forest. English speaking, with strong traditions of cricket and calypso music, it's culturally connected to the Caribbean region. Its capital, Georgetown, is know for its British colonial architecture."

Week 4

Good Morning Everyone!
This last two weeks has been crazy! To save on time I'm just going to say that the MTC was successful. Daniel, Sariah, and Jose all deiced to be baptized. IT was so awesome! I loved it! It was sad to say goodbye to all of my new MTC friends tho... That's ok!

We are going to start on Tuesday. We left the MTC and the Temple at 4:00 something am. Then we flew to Panama and then to Trinidad! Nothing to report from the flights. We still had no idea where we were going. Then we had a meeting with the APs. I have been assigned to serve in the Guyana, Rosehall area! There are cows and dogs and drunk people everywhere! Our area is a biking area.

Wednesday I meet with President Egbert and spent the day in the mission home. Then we flew out to Guyana late, and I crashed in the mission office there. It was super sketchy.:)

Thursday we traveled like almost all day too (by "bus") then I meet my Father, Elder Cook. He is super cool! He did PLTW (Project Lead the Way) too! He lived in Colorado and was born in California, so we have a bunch of stuff in common. His favorite food is hamburgers.

Friday we rode our bikes all over the world! Almost all of our appointments fell through which is fairly typical in this area. So we did a ton of contacting. But I cant understand a word anyone is saying! And everyone is Hindu so we have to teach that there is one God and stuff. It's really different from the Dominicans we taught in the MTC. :)

Saturday, I Don't remember exactly what we did because the days are all blurred together. But we did clean the church chairs and helped make brooms in this week sometime... Its crazy here! :)

Sunday we went to church and played the prelude music and it was super spiritual. Sacrament was like nothing I've ever seen! but I loved it. I forgot to take pics of the building...Next week.  We taught the WOW to our only progressing investigators, Shena and Matha. They have been reading the BOM and they seam to love it! The spirit was so strong! They are going to be baptized on the 13 of August and I cant wait!

I love all of you! I missed you at the family reunion. I bet it was boring tho because all of the best cousins are on missions! ;) JK Pray for Shena and Matha and Elder Andrus! Also we met a drunk member and he said he killed his sister. But he didn't, we stopped by and checked!

Pictures are being super weird... I don't have time to send them out... so sorry...
