Week 14 letter and photos!

Hello Family!

This week was crazy, Sad, Happy, and Spiritual!

I spent till Wednesday in Skeldon (That is the crazy part). Then Elder Ruegger made it back from Trinidad. He is going to Suriname in the near future! IDK when.

Remember Terry that I talked about last week? Ya, He dropped us as missionaries. IDK even why! (That is the sad part). Then we bought alligator tails from an investigator and we have been cooking it! (That is the happy part)

Then we had zone meeting on Saturday! I love to hear from president Ebgert! He is so amazing! We learned so much about how the Book of Mormon is truly the word of God! A commitment that I would like to leave you, is will you read the Intro to the Book? Think about all of the amazing promises that are in that book!

There are 5000 baptized members in Guyana. We have been told that if every single one read the Book of Mormon ever day there would not only be 5000 active members but the Church would be at least 25000 members strong! We could have 5 temples in Guyana. That would so amazing. Read the book! Never stop reading it! It is the only way that we will make it back to our father in heaven!!!!!!!!(That is the spiritual part)

Mom, I don’t need anything. other than a Book of Mormon (Which I already have) That is for my salvation! :P

For my responsibilities as the financial clerk, I Impute the tithes and offerings into the computer and deposit the money in the churches account.

P days look like this: Wake up 6:30. Get ready 8;00. Study 10:00. Deposit the money 10;30. Email 12:00. Shop 1:30. Cook/Clean/time.

What do I miss most about Utah? (other than family or friends)- The mountains

What is church like here?- We get there at 8:30 set up and wait for the branch pres to get there (about 10) Have Sacrament Meeting and regular classes.

Thanks for the Update! That’s crazy to hear that there was a tornado! Sneeze *Signs of the second coming!*

We do get to watch conference. It is broadcast through the Computer so we all gather in the Branch President’s office and watch! It should be interesting to fit 40 people in that closet. And you were right! this week was fast!

Do I ever want to leave Guyana? NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I love you all sooooo soooooooo osooooooosoosososooooo much!!!

Love,

Elder Andrus

It looks hot!

Week 13

Hello Friends, Family, Loved ones,

This week was so awesome and so sad! Elder Ruegger finally got all his paperwork to go to Suriname and has to leave at the end of this transfer... That kinda bummed me out... That’s ok though! I’m ready and excited for the next adventure!

We also started contacting House to house. It’s not really door to door, because no one has doors. There is really no inside here! I love it! Anyway, Pres Egbert told us to go House to house and we have seen some really amazing success. We meet this guy that was living in Suriname and had to run because some guy threatened to kill him (or something). He was taking the lessons from the missionaries there and he is super prepared. The only thing he took with him was a little notebook and a pen. He memorized passages for the BOM and he wrote them down and would read them over and over! He is so cool. He is going to get baptized ASAP!

The member who is always around (and sends pictures to you!) is Tanya Morgan, she is a recent convert and is prepping to serve a mission so she likes to come out teaching and stuff with us. She is so funny. I am doing great, I love everything about Guyana! The people are so amazing. We are going to have another baptism, but we had to move the day to the 8th because she needs to receive the HG on the Sunday after she is baptized (Pres. Egbert's rule). The investigators are really good!
My favorite Guyanese food is got to be Chicken curry or Pumpkin curry, haven't decided yet.
This week was so Amazing! I love it here and I love to preach the Gospel! We all need to do the best that we can to share the love of Christ! not teach people about the LDS church, but simple invite others to follow HIM!

Love,
Elder Andrus!

This was an answer to my question about him getting enough to eat:

Mom, a mission is going two years without being full. BUT I love it and wouldn’t change it for the world! I love you so much!

Elder Ruegger
The only picture he sent this week with him in it. His feet and legs look good.
Elder Ruegger looks like a fun guy!

I know I haven't seen William in a while...boy, has he changed! lol
(If you can't see, he is wearing William's name tag!)

Yes, another thing to worry about.

This is Marsha who was baptized last week!

Week 12

Hellooooooo Family!!!

This week was so awesome! I love the work so much! I’m sorry I couldn’t email yesterday. There was a holiday on Sunday and the shop was closed on Monday because of that. I still love you! I’m doing great!

Kavo shook me up a little bit, but it was really a testimony builder! Hel 5: 12 “And now, my sons, remember, remember that it is upon the rock of our Redeemer, who is Christ, the Son of God, that ye must build your foundation; that when the devil shall send forth his mighty winds, yea, his shafts in the whirlwind, yea, when all his hail and his mighty storm shall beat upon you, it shall have no power over you to drag you down to the gulf of misery and endless wo, because of the rock upon which ye are built, which is a sure foundation, a foundation whereon if men build they cannot fall.

Also! I’ve been giving lots of compliments about how versed I am in the scriptures. But whenever I hear that, I just think that I could have studied so much harder at home, I wish I could have...

It’s is so great when investigators choose to keep the commitments that we leave with them! Last week we taught a lady named Annie. Then we came by again this week and Christine, her daughter, read a section from the Book of Mormon! I can’t wait for her to follow the example of Jesus and be baptized! The Book of Mormon is the power, not has the power, to change your life through the Holy Ghost!

Continue to read the Book of Mormon no matter what! It is the only perfectly true Book on this Earth. And it DOES contain the Fullness of the everlasting Gospel!
This week I was in a "Tri-panionship" with Elder Cooper and Elder Ruegger! It was so much fun! We also had 4 investigators come to church! We are gunna rock this place.😎 I love you guys so much! never stop praying and reading the Book!

Sheena, (Marsha’s daughter) is also going to be baptized on October 1. That’s her birthday!

This week was awesome! I love it here so much!!!!!!!!

Love Elder Andrus!

Not sure what he is holding...
Marsha's Baptism!

Week 11

Hello Everyone!

This week was so crazy! IDK even what happened for most of it!

Mon: Today we taught Kavo about the Atonement. It was a really good lesson. (I’ll talk about it more.)

Tues: DM and I was on an exchange with Elder Peterson. We stopped to get hotdogs and the guy selling them told us that Kavo, (the guy we taught the night before) killed himself. We went to his house and there was a wake going on (pretty much a sob fest for the dead, It’s a Hindu thing). But Kavo took his life. I’m not sure why but we were the last people to talk to him in mortality. And we taught him about the Atonement. If Jesus Christ was in our place he would have most likely talked about the same thing. Now, I’m not trying to compare myself or boast or anything. But I am so glad that we were guided by the spirit to share those comforting thoughts as he was about to pass thru the veil. Everyone we talk to has real problems and the gospel can help them NO MATTER WHAT! The Gospel of Jesus Christ, which is centered around the Atonement, is what we need to declare unto all the people on earth!

Sat: On a much more happy note! We extended a baptism date to Sheena, Marsha's daughter! (I did not baptize Marsha, someone in the branch did.)   It was so exciting! I know that the Gospel of Jesus Christ can help her! Also We extended a baptism to a man named Qusey! He is so awesome! he reads the BOM all the time! He is going to be baptized soon!

This week was crazy! but I know that Christ is the rock that we MUST build our foundation on! Hel. 5; 12

I’m feeling Great! I Love the work so much! bronchitis is gone. Elder Ruegger and I eat lots of fruit that the members give us!

I love you all so much! Continue to read your BOM every day! Find opportunities to serve others and share the Gospel with everyone that you meet!

Love

Elder Andrus!
